Peter Ali, Native
flutist who is self taught and has been playing for 10 years comes from
a very diverse background with his Father from Morocco who is Berber and
a Mother who is of Yaqui Indian heritage as well as Spanish and Italian
from Sonora Mexico. In the last 4 years he has taught workshops to
Indian education programs, DSHS Foster Native and Hispanic children and
in 2008 he had the opportunity along with friends Gene Tagaban (Tlingit,
Raven dancer and storyteller) and Swil Kanim (Lummi,
world class
virtuoso violinist and storyteller) to
play for the Dali
Lama on Children’s day during the Seeds of compassion tour. More
recently Peter has battled cancer and now is in remission and continues
to perform at festivals, charitys, and cultural events around the Puget
Sound sharing the music and peace that can only come from the heart.
